CGC Classes are open to all dogs of any age, both purebred and mixed breeds!
All dogs that successfully pass the CGC Test will earn the AKC Title of Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and get a certificate from the AKC that you can frame to show off your accomplishment!
What is Canine Good Citizen (CGC)?
The Canine Good Citizen™ (CGC) program teaches basic skills and good manners to dogs, and responsible dog ownership to their pawrents!
At the end of the 6-week class, your dog will be given a 10-skill test administered by an authorized AKC Evaluator. Successfully passing the test earns your dog the title of Canine Good Citizen (CGC)!
By training and earning the title of Canine Good Citizen (CGC), you and your dog will deepen your bond and become a more connected team. It strengthens trust and communication between owner and dog and is designed to help you and your dog be the best you can be TOGETHER. You and your dog will master basic skills, and your dog will become a welcomed community member when out in public.
The CGC title is the foundation for specialty work and is a prerequisite for many therapy dog certifications, as well as a great introduction to more advanced certifications and dog sports and activities. It is also required by some housing developments.
